Physical Therapy

Our pediatrician recommended that we see a physical therapist to address Brady's torticollis (tightened neck muscle - as a result of his position in the womb). He also has plageocephaly (flat side of his head). For the torticollis we learned several new stretches and exercises and we also have to do lots of tummy time. The tummy time is getting easier since he is rolling over! We are supposed to try and keep him off the back of his head as much as possible to help with the muscles and the flat side of his head. Both of these issues are very common these days in babies, especially because babies sleep on their backs versus bellies. Because Brady is on his back a lot, it unfortunately doesn't help the plageocephaly because he constantly wants to turn to the left (due to the torticollis) which is where the flat side of his head is. So... all in all we are a bit overwhelmed in trying to get in as many exercises and stretching as possible everyday... while keeping him off his back (easier said than done with a newborn!) We go back in a week - stay tuned!
